OpenCode
Open-source coding agent for the terminal, desktop, or an IDE, with free models or your own.
What it does
OpenCode is an open-source coding agent. The homepage says it runs in the terminal, an IDE, or a desktop app, and the FAQ also lists a web app. It can use free models without an account, or connect a provider, including local models, ChatGPT Plus or Pro, and GitHub Copilot. The homepage says the source is public on GitHub under the MIT License. OpenCode Zen is a separate pay-as-you-go catalog of models the team says it has tested for coding agents. The docs say OpenCode 1 and OpenCode 2 cannot be installed side by side under the default opencode command.
Who is OpenCode for?
Developers who want a free coding agent and will choose the model, including a local one.
