OpenScreen
Free open-source screen recorder and editor with an agent that can write new effects.
What it does
OpenScreen is a free, open-source screen recorder and video editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The homepage says there is no watermark and no account. The getopenscreen/openscreen repository is MIT-licensed. The October 17, 2026 post for version 2.1 introduces Off-Menu: you describe an effect, an agent writes it as a GPU shader through the editor's MCP tools, and it lands on the timeline. The same post says an agent can record, cut, zoom, caption, annotate, set the format, and export through that MCP server.
Who is OpenScreen for?
People who record product demos and want an agent that can edit the video or add an effect.
