Comparison
What it is
Eklipse
A gaming clip maker. You connect a channel, it scans a stream for moments, and Premium is what unlocks export.
Opus Clip
A general long-video clipper. It imports a public link or a file, finds shorts, captions them, and exports. A gameplay layout is on the pricing table.
Best for
Eklipse
Twitch, Kick, and YouTube streamers who want gameplay highlights and will pay to download them.
Opus Clip
People who repurpose streams, podcasts, and other long videos, and who want a free export before they subscribe.
Pricing model
Eklipse
Paid, with a free preview. The Premium cost article, updated 12 Apr 2026 and still up on 1 Nov 2026, lists web Premium at $24.99 a month, $112.99 every six months, or $179.99 a year. Mobile monthly is $27.99. The six-month and annual mobile prices match the web prices.
Opus Clip
Freemium. On 1 Nov 2026 the pricing page listed Free at $0, Starter at $15 a month, Pro at $29 a month, and Business as custom. The credits article says 1 credit equals 1 minute of source video, with 150 credits a month on Starter and 300 a month per pack on Pro.
Free tier
Eklipse
Signup is free, and it is not a standing export plan. The free-or-paid article, updated 13 Aug 2026, says you can connect Twitch, YouTube, or Kick and preview one recent stream. Creating and exporting clips requires Premium.
Opus Clip
Yes. Free is $0 and can export, with a watermark on animated captions and no watermark-free export on that column. Storage expires after 3 days. MP4 export on Free is a 3-day limit at up to 1080p, in 9:16 only.
Platforms
Eklipse
Web, plus iOS and Android. The cost article lists a higher mobile monthly price, $27.99, and the same six-month and annual prices as the web.
Opus Clip
Web app. The import article lists Twitch, Kick, YouTube, Zoom, and local upload, among others. The pricing page does not list a desktop or mobile app.
Key strengths
Eklipse
The free article says Premium adds 1080p 60fps export with no watermark, templates for TikTok, Shorts, and Reels, and captions. The directory describes scoring from gameplay events, audio spikes, and chat. That is the reason it is first on the twitch-clips shortlist.
Opus Clip
A gameplay and screenshare layout on every column of the pricing table, plus captions and 9:16 export. Starter adds watermark-free export, a virality score, and posting to social. It does not claim to detect kills and wins.
Limitations
Eklipse
You cannot treat the free scan as a publishing plan. Export waits on Premium, from $24.99 a month on the web. The cost article does not list a larger free monthly allowance.
Opus Clip
Free export is watermarked, and Free storage expires after 3 days. It will import a Twitch link, and it is still a general repurposing tool. Opus Clip has a partner link. Eklipse does not.
Prices were checked against the sources below on Nov 1, 2026. They exclude tax unless a source says otherwise, and they change. Where a figure could not be pinned down, the cell says to check the site.
Pick one
Pick Eklipse ifthe VOD is a game stream and you want highlights scored for that, and you will pay Premium to export them.
Pick Opus Clip ifyou want shorts from a long video that might be a stream, a podcast, or an interview, and a watermarked free export is enough to judge it.

Questions
- Which is better for Twitch?
- Eklipse is first on the twitch-clips shortlist because it is built around gaming VODs. Opus Clip is third there, as a general clipper that also accepts Twitch. This page does not change that order. Export is the practical split: Eklipse Premium, or Opus Clip's free plan with a watermark.
- Is Eklipse free?
- Signup and a preview are free. The help article updated 13 Aug 2026 says you can preview one recent Twitch, YouTube, or Kick stream, and that creating and exporting clips requires Premium. Web Premium is $24.99 a month, or $179.99 a year.
- How much does Opus Clip cost?
- On 1 Nov 2026 the pricing page listed Free at $0, Starter at $15 a month, Pro at $29 a month, and Business as custom. Starter is the first column with watermark-free export. Credits are 1 per minute of source video.
- Does the partner link put Opus Clip ahead?
- No. Opus Clip has an affiliate link. Eklipse does not. The verdict still picks Eklipse for a gaming highlight you must pay to export, and Opus Clip for a general clipper with a free export. The link does not change a score or a ranking.
- Does Opus Clip detect in-game kills?
- Not as a claim on the pages read for this comparison. Those pages list a gameplay layout and Twitch as an import source. Eklipse's directory entry is the one that describes scoring gameplay events, loud moments, and chat. Use Eklipse when that detector is the point.
