Also known as GPT-6.1 Terra, gpt-6.1-terra
What it does
GPT-6.1 Terra is an OpenAI model announced on October 26, 2026 for visual reasoning, computer use, and writing. It is available in the API as gpt-6.1-terra, and in ChatGPT Work and Codex. The announcement lists Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu. The ChatGPT release notes the same day also include Business. The model page lists text and image input, text output, a 1,050,000-token context window, up to 922,000 input tokens, 128,000 max output tokens, and a June 1, 2026 knowledge cutoff. Reasoning effort runs from none through max, with medium as the default. Tool calling requires the Responses API. Standard API prices on the announcement are $1 per million input tokens, $0.05 per million cached input tokens, and $5 per million output tokens. OpenAI says that is 50% lower than GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol. The announcement does not list a ChatGPT plan price.
Who is GPT-6.1 Terra for?
Developers and ChatGPT Work or Codex users who want a faster model for screens, images, and drafts.
