What it does

MAI-Image-2.7 is Microsoft's image editing model, announced in preview on October 27, 2026. Microsoft describes restyling or relighting a scene, changing text and symbols while keeping them in the image, restoring or enhancing an existing asset, and edits that depend on how objects, lighting, and the setting fit together. The post says it launches at No. 3 on Arena Edit, which Microsoft says makes Microsoft AI the No. 2 lab, and at No. 2 on Artificial Analysis's image editing leaderboard. It says the model improves on MAI-Image-2.6 across all 10 use cases and all 7 editing actions in that evaluation, with its strongest lead in scene and style, 24 Elo ahead of the next model. Image editing is available on Arena, Artificial Analysis, and MAI Playground. Microsoft says text-to-image generation is coming soon. The post does not list a price.
