Comparison
What it is
Factory Droid
Factory's coding agent. The pricing page includes desktop, CLI, and SDK on Pro, plus cloud and local background agents.
Claude Code
Anthropic's coding agent. It is a row on the Claude pricing table, included with paid Claude plans, and it is not a separate editor.
Best for
Factory Droid
Developers who want one Factory subscription and a harness the FAQ says can use more than one model family.
Claude Code
People who already use Claude, or who will, and want the coding agent on that same plan.
Pricing model
Factory Droid
Paid. On 1 Nov 2026 the pricing page listed Pro at $20 a month, Plus at $100 a month, and Max at $200 a month. Plus is about 5 times Pro usage. Max is about 10 times. Teams is $60 a month per team plus $40 a month per seat, up to 10 seats. Business and Enterprise are contact sales. The page does not list a free plan.
Claude Code
No separate price. On 1 Nov 2026 Claude Code was included with Pro at $20 a month, or $17 a month if you pay $200 up front, and with Max at $100 and Ultra at $200. Prices exclude tax. It was off on Free.
Free tier
Factory Droid
No. The pricing page starts at Pro for $20 a month. There is no $0 row.
Claude Code
No. Claude's free plan does not include Claude Code. The feature table marks it No on Free and Yes on Pro, Max, and Ultra.
Platforms
Factory Droid
Desktop, CLI, and SDK, as listed on the Pro card. Plus adds Factory-managed cloud computers for remote Droids.
Claude Code
The Claude FAQ says work in the terminal and work in chat draw from one pool, and the feature table includes web, iOS, Android, and desktop for Claude. Claude Code is the coding surface on paid plans.
Key strengths
Factory Droid
A model-independent harness, per the pricing FAQ, which says Factory supports frontier and open-weight models including recent GPT-5, Claude Opus and Sonnet, and Gemini. Pro is a complete individual plan at $20, without requiring a Claude subscription.
Claude Code
One bill with Claude chat. Pro is enough to turn Claude Code on. Usage is the same pool as chat, so you are not buying a second coding subscription. Max and Ultra raise that pool and add monthly API credits.
Limitations
Factory Droid
There is no free plan on the page, and Factory Droid is not on the coding-agents shortlist. You are adding a vendor even if the model underneath is Claude. Teams pricing is a platform fee plus a seat fee.
Claude Code
A free Claude account cannot run it. A long coding session spends the chat allowance. The FAQ says you can move heavy work to API credits on a Console account. It is not a multi-model subscription in the way Factory describes Pro.
Prices were checked against the sources below on Nov 1, 2026. They exclude tax unless a source says otherwise, and they change. Where a figure could not be pinned down, the cell says to check the site.
Pick one

you want a coding-agent subscription of your own, across desktop, CLI, and SDK, and you will start at $20 a month with no free tier.
Pick Claude Code ifyou already pay for Claude, or you are about to, and you want Claude Code inside that plan instead of a second vendor.
